Podcast

As I was searching iTunes for a podcast, I came across a podcast from the Humane Society. It was based upon Petland and the fogginess there is to the places it buys its puppies from. Statistics show that Petland, an international business, sells more puppies than any other animal house annually. Even though Petland denies buying puppies from rundown and illegal places, the Humane Society has found evidence showing otherwise....

Petland

This article mentions that an "eight month investigation by the Humane Society of the United States claims that Petland Stores nationwide sell puppies from puppy mills."

Puppies that that are bought and sold from Puppy Mills are proven to have many more long term health issues due to the fact that they have been cooped up in such horrible conditions.

Horse Abuse

I was looking through my google alerts and I came across this article:

Man accused of dragging horse charged with animal cruelty

It was really sad. I don't understand how somebody thinks of such horrible things to do. Near the end of the article, it says that even the man's daughter abused the horse. She supposedly kicked the horse in the head.

Puppy Mills

I was just researching Puppy Mills (Puppy Farms). I am in a state of shock. I had no idea that about 99% of all puppies in pet stores come from Puppy Mills. These mills contain hundreds of dogs locked up in cages all their lives. All the female dogs do is reproduce until they are not able to reproduce anymore! Once a female dog cannot have anymore puppies the Puppy Mill owner will probably kill them.
The conditions these dogs live in probably most of their lives are horrible. They air reeks of urine, most dogs have probably never touched grass before and are just bond to run around because the breeders don't even care enough about them to walk them.
These URL's are part of Oprah's show about puppy mills.

Pit Bull Cruelty

I just read this sad story about a pit bull. It was very depressing to read what two people in West Virginia did to their dog. The authorities found an emaciated pit bull chained in the attic with open wounds "all the way around its snout and under its lower jaw" ( http://www.herald-mail.com/?cmd=displaystory&story_id=208412&format=html). This case of animal cruelty ranked among the top five in the West Virginia city.
I don't understand why people have pets/animals if they do not have the time or money to take care of them. Animals deserve every right to live, just like humans.
